Problem with synch converter

Hello, I downloaded synch converter wsp solution from the sharepoint 2013 download page. I have a sharepoint 2013 on premise standard server. I installed using command shell and activated solution through admin central. I activated the feature on my site collection. When I highlight a document and select convert from ribbon and then pdf, a new window opens with the title "pdf rendition" and the rest is blank. Nothing happens. I have probably done something wrong but not sure where I should troubleshoot. Hope you can help me, I would love to use this product! :-) Best regards, Karl.

Hi Karl, Synch Converter relies on Word Automation Service - Service Application. You should just need to configure and start it from central admin. Good luck.

Hello, thank you for fast reply. I really appreciate it! I thought I had WAS enabled but I was mistaken. It now works like a charm! Thank you! If I may ask a additional question. Do you have any tips regarding saving the pdf to a sharepoint library. I see that if I select a word document from a library and press convert to pdf, the pdf document is created but when I select save I can must save to my computer. Unless I have synced libraries of course, then there is no problem. But it would be sweet if I could convert pdf and save back to the library for example.

Hi Karl, I'm glad you got it working. If you press F8 in the dialog when viewing the PDF it will give you access to the menu and you can save it from there. If I understand correctly you are saying that the Save button only allows you to save the document to the file system and then you must upload it, and what you want is the option to save it back to the source library - have I got that right?

The current release of Synch Convertor has not been written to do as you ask but I have made the source code available and I think it could quite easily be adapted to do what you are after. There are 3 blog posts for you to follow, starting here: http://www.kaboodlekonnect.com/colin/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=10

Alternatively, why not look at the Converter module of Kaboodle Renditions (http://www.kaboodlekonnect.com/renditions/converter). That does what you are after and much more. It is a licensed product so not free but why not try it out?

I hope that helps

Kind Regards
Colin
