Solution Manager does not show all solutions

It seems solutions manager does not show all solutions on the Deploy tab to allow me to Deploy all required solutions to the appropriate webapps ... noticed the same behavior in my 2010 and 2013 farms. On 2013 I do have vers set to ALL but it still doesn't deploy all the solutions eligible for deployment.

Hi Mike, thanks for your feedback.

The Solution Manager works in a 2 step process, the same way as SharePoint does. First you have to add solutions and then deploy them. Solutions which have already been deployed will not show up on the Deploy tab but they should show up on the Uninstall tab. The Deploy tab will only show solutions have been added to the solution store but which have not yet been deployed (or one which have been retracted/uninstalled but not removed from the farm).

Are you saying that from the View tab you can see some farm solutions which have a Deployed=false value in the property grid which do not show up in the Deploy tab and so therefore cannot be deployed using the Solution Manager?

Also please bear in mind that the Solution Manager has been designed to work with Farm solutions only.

Thanks for the quick reply Colin. I went back based on your feedback above and verified the Deployed value on the solutions I was expecting to see. I noticed it was set to True so I investigated further and deciphered they were sitting in a 'Retracting' state so that explains why I was not able to Deploy them. Thanks for the info which helped push me in the right direction!
